IEAB and Anglican Communion Structures

Among the tools for the union of the Anglican Communion, there is the Anglican Consultative Council – ACC.  The ACC is presided by the Archbishop of Canterbury and has as General Secretary the Anglican Communion Secretary. The headquarters of the Council is in London. Professor Dr Joanildo Burity is IEAB’s representative in the ACC. The council is one of the signs of the Anglican Communion and is its legislative feature.

Recommendations and deliberate resolutions are thereby sent to the Provinces for appreciation and approval. ACC is the most representative  instance in the Communion because it includes bishops, clergy and laypeople from all provinces. The last encounter of the Council was in Jamaica, in May 2009, and, among other subjects, the proposal of an Anglican Pact, which was sent to the Provinces of the Communion for examination and approval, always according to the internal rules of each one.
