Rio Grande do Norte Anglicanism

IEAB's ministry arrived in Rio Grande do Norte in 1998. It started with the Rev. Jorge Aquino, a former Presbyterian minister, and also with the Rev. Severino Abel, a former Capuchin Roman Catholic friar.

The Church of the Nativity was elevated to parish status in 2001, and meets at the Federal University's Ecumenical Chapel. Its first rector was the Rev. Aquino, who was involved in ecumenical circles , worked with human rights groups and promoted peace walks. Nowadays, the Rev. Rodson Ricardo do Nascimento is its rector. Fr. Rodson's leadership is characterized by the continuation of the parish's ecumenical and inter-faith involvement. Also, couple encounters were started and a worship group, called Kyrios, was implemented.

Jesus of Nazareth Preaching Point was started in 1997 by the Rev. Severino Abel, in the Jardim Progresso settlement, in Nossa Senhora da Apresentação. Between 1997 and 2004, such community was actively involved in evangelism, catechesis and social community action activities. This work was an extension of activities developed in the Areado Community, through the Saint Felix Community Work Project and the Saint Francis of Assisi Preaching Point.

Currently under the leadership of Deacon Gecionny Pinto, the preaching point's activities were reopened with Holy Week celebrations, mother's day activities, Corpus Christi, an episcopal visit and the 2nd “St. John without drugs” - a celebration of the saints of June, with dance festivals and parties.
